Calne’s Christmas Festival will have an extra touch of star power this year, with former Southampton and England midfielder Matt Le Tissier joining the town for the annual lights switch-on.
The White Horse Inn in Compton Bassett, a well-known and much-loved spot for villagers and visitors from Calne, has announced it will close at the end of this month.
A community effort to bring a much-loved village pub back into use has reached a major funding milestone, with more than £400,000 now pledged to buy the closed Ivy Inn in Heddington.
