Calne 1st XI travelled to Chippenham on Week 8, hoping to build on their recent victory against Malmesbury.

However, despite a valiant effort, they suffered a defeat at the hands of the home side. Chippenham got off to a strong start, putting Calne under pressure early on. Calne fought back admirably in the final 15 overs, eventually bowling Chippenham out for 207.

Roger Neeranjan was the standout bowler for Calne, taking an impressive 3 wickets for just 24 runs in his 4 overs.

Calne's batting innings started poorly, with the loss of two of their opening three wickets. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, leaving Calne struggling.

A 49-run partnership between Jamie Ealey (26) and Ashley Monaghan (28) offered a glimmer of hope with 15 overs remaining, but with few wickets in hand, a Calne defeat seemed inevitable. They managed to reach 150, securing a batting point, but ultimately fell 50 runs short of Chippenham's total.

Calne will be looking to bounce back next Saturday as they host Royal Wootton Bassett at The Brook.

Meanwhile, Calne 3's travelled to Swindon Titans 2, still searching for their first win of the season.

Put in to bat, Calne got off to a fantastic start, reaching 100-1 thanks to a century partnership between Phill Barwell (37) and Rob Green (46). Unfortunately, no one could capitalise on this strong foundation, and they finished on 168-8 after their 40 overs.

Josh Gladding continued his impressive form, leading the Swindon attack and finishing with figures of 3-27, further solidifying his claim for a spot in the 2nd XI.

Despite his efforts, Swindon Titans managed to reach their target with 3 wickets remaining.

Calne 3's will be hoping for a change in fortune as they welcome Biddestone to Beversbrook on Saturday.

Finally, Calne 4's hosted Bradford on Avon 3's, seeking their first win since Week 3.

Both teams were evenly matched in the league table prior to the game. Bradford on Avon batted first, posting a total of 207-7 from their 40 overs. In reply, contributions were made throughout the Calne batting order, with Jon Lee's 42 being the highlight.

However, it wasn't enough to secure the victory, as Calne finished on 174-8. Calne 4's will travel to Melksham 3's next weekend, aiming to secure a much-needed win.
