Calne Cricket Club experienced a week of fluctuating fortunes, managing one win out of four matches played across their teams in Week 5.

The 1st XI suffered a heavy blow at home, succumbing to a 10-wicket defeat against Burbage 2's. Andy Windsor's resilient 39 provided a lone bright spot in an otherwise disappointing performance. With no wickets to celebrate, the team is looking to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming away fixture against Nationwide House.

However, the 2nd XI provided a much-needed boost, securing their second consecutive victory with a stellar performance away against Box 2's. After being put in the field, Calne restricted Box to 210-6, with Will Hardie standing out as the pick of the bowlers.

Captain Doel then led by example, crafting a masterful innings of 85 to lay the foundation for a 4-wicket victory. The 2nd XI will be looking to continue their winning streak as they host Swindon Super Strikers in Calne this Saturday.

The 3rd XI's search for their first win of the season continues, as they fell short against Corsham 4's. After electing to bat, Calne posted a respectable 207-7, with Phil Barwell contributing a significant 78. However, a strong batting display from Corsham's top order saw them reach the target with 6 wickets to spare. Jim Sutton was the standout bowler, taking 2-35.

The 3rd XI will travel to Lacock 2's this weekend, hoping to turn their fortunes around.

Finally, the 4th XI, after a strong start to the season, faced a setback on their trip to Wootton Bassett 4's. Ben Taliadouros got them off to a flying start, taking 5 quick wickets to leave the hosts reeling at 34-5.

However, resilient batting from RWB saw them reach 211 all out. Despite a valiant effort, with Mark Rickett scoring 34 and Ben Taliadouros adding 28, Calne fell short, succumbing to a 68-run defeat. The 4's will look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Swindon 5's this weekend.
