A woman has been charged and remanded in custody following the with murder following the death of another woman at a property in Devizes on Christmas Day.

In an update issued on Wednesday, 31st December, Wiltshire Police said Stefania Glowka, 63, of Keepers Road, Devizes, and of Polish nationality, has been charged with murder. Her case was heard at Bristol Crown Court the same day, although she did not appear.
Ms Glowka has been remanded in custody and is due to appear again at Bristol Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on March 20th, 2026, with a provisional trial date set for June 1st, 2026.
Emergency services were called to an address in Keepers Road shortly after 8am on Christmas Day following reports of a serious assault. Despite the efforts of South Western Ambulance Service, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Formal identification of the victim has yet to take place. Police have previously said the woman was in her 80s and was known to the defendant. A preliminary post-mortem examination has been carried out, but further information is required to establish the cause of death.
Ms Glowka had initially been arrested on suspicion of murder after being discharged from hospital, where she was treated for injuries that were not believed to be life-changing. Police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
A police cordon that had been in place at the address has now been lifted.
