A 42-year-old man from Semington has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for dangerous driving after a high-speed pursuit through Melksham.
Nathan Law's reckless driving put the lives of many at risk as he sped, performed dangerous overtakes, and drove the wrong way around roundabouts.
The pursuit began on 7th May, when Law failed to stop for officers earlier in the day. When his black Vauxhall Astra was located on Pathfinder Way in Melksham, Law attempted to flee again.
The pursuit ended after contact between Law's vehicle and a police car.
Law pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. In addition to his prison sentence, he was disqualified from driving for five years and ordered to pay a £187 surcharge.
He will also need to pass an extended driving test before regaining his licence.
PC Ben Greening of Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit condemned Law's behavior, stating: "This was some of the most shocking and dangerous driving that I have witnessed in my 11 years of policing. His reckless behaviour showed absolutely no regard for the safety of members of the public and he was only brought to a halt following robust action on the part of pursuing officers. We are determined to tackle such offenders and bring them before the courts."
