Two women have been arrested following early morning police raids in Chippenham as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug-related crime.

Officers from Wiltshire Police carried out two simultaneous warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act at properties in Lords Mead and Conway Road during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The operation involved officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by the Local Police Tasking Team and the Dog Section.

A 59-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of drugs and money laundering offences. A number of items were recovered from the properties and police say enquiries are continuing.

Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Jamie Ball said the warrants are part of a targeted approach to tackle drug-related activity and protect local communities. “These warrants demonstrate our determination to disrupt drug activity and protect our communities,” Sgt Ball said.

“We rely on the support of the public and encourage anyone with concerns or information about drug activity to contact us. Every report helps us take action and keep our neighbourhoods safe.”

“We recognise that when it comes to drug-related activity, it can sometimes be frustrating for those who report concerns if it seems we do not act immediately.

Rest assured, our officers carefully build up a clear picture before moving in, as these are often complex investigations that require detailed planning. Today’s action is an example of that process in practice.”

Police are urging anyone with information about drug activity in their area to call 101, or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
