Police have made two arrests following a late-night burglary at John Coles Park in Chippenham.
Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, 23rd September, suspects broke into a storage unit at the park, stealing several chainsaws and garden tools. Members of the public reported seeing two males carrying the equipment nearby.
Following CCTV enquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday evening (24 September) on suspicion of burglary. The next morning, a 16-year-old boy was also arrested in connection with the incident. Both remain in custody at Melksham for questioning.
Inspector Pete Foster praised the role of the community, saying:
“These arrests came about following police enquiries and diligent members of our community raising concerns regarding suspicious behaviour. It’s really important that if you see somebody acting in a suspicious manner to alert police so we can further investigate.”
