Drivers in Calne are being advised of a forthcoming road closure on part of Oxford Road to allow works connected to the new Lidl supermarket development.
Wiltshire Council has confirmed that a section of Oxford Road, from the Oxford Road Roundabout to its junction with Weston Close, will be closed to all traffic from 10th November 2025 until 30th January 2026.
The closure is required to enable contractor Dave Lucey Ltd to carry out Section 278 works, which include forming a new access off the adjacent roundabout and making improvements to Oxford Road.
A signed diversion route will be in place via Oxford Road, Beversbrook Road and Stanier Road. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible, but delays are likely due to the scale of the works.
Although the legal order allows for a maximum duration of 18 months, the closure is expected to remain in place only for the period stated, subject to weather conditions.
