Wiltshire Council has issued an official notice announcing a temporary road closure on Anchor Road, Calne, now scheduled for Sunday, 31st August 2025.

The closure is necessary to allow Wales & West Utilities to carry out urgent new service works and other associated maintenance.

The affected stretch will extend approximately 140 metres southeast from the junction with The Glebe. The work is planned in the interest of public safety and is expected to last one day, though the notice allows for a maximum closure duration of five days should delays occur.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place throughout the duration of the works. The alternative route will direct traffic via Anchor Road (unaffected section), Brewers Lane, A4, Church Street, Mill Street, and back onto Anchor Road, in both directions.

Access for residents and local businesses will be maintained wherever possible, but Wiltshire Council warns that delays are likely due to the nature of the work.

For more information about the planned works, members of the public are encouraged to contact Wales & West Utilities directly at 02920 278989.

Residents are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time for travel on the day of the closure.
