A five-month closure previously scheduled for a stretch of the A342 near Derry Hill will no longer go ahead next year, Wessex Water has confirmed.
The works appeared on the One Network roadworks portal after highway permits were submitted earlier this autumn.
However, Wessex Water has now said the scheme has been postponed following an internal review, and the associated permits will be cancelled.
A spokesperson for the company told Calne News that the project will be rescheduled for a later date, but no new timeframe has been set. They added that the works will not take place within the next 12 months.
Once revised plans are agreed with Wiltshire Council’s highways team, Wessex Water says it will carry out full engagement with local residents and businesses and publicise the details in advance, as is customary for major infrastructure projects.
Residents can continue to check One Network for updates on future scheduled roadworks in the area.
