Motorists are being advised of upcoming overnight road closures on the A3102 this week, as Wiltshire Council carries out essential resurfacing and safety improvements.

The works are due to start today, Monday 3rd November 2025 and are expected to last for four nights. The closure will take place in three phases, each affecting different sections of the A3102.

The council says the road will be closed to all traffic between 6pm and 6am each night while crews carry out surfacing, lining, studding and associated works. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, but delays are likely due to the scale of the works.

The closure schedule is as follows:

  • Phase 1: From the junction with Stanier Road for approximately 380 metres northeast, from 3rd to 5th November

  • Phase 2: From the Oxford Road roundabout for approximately 200 metres southwest, from 5th to 6th November

  • Phase 3: Between Stanier Road and the Oxford Road roundabout, from 6th to 7th November

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the A3102 (unaffected length), B4005, Wharf Road, A4361, and A4, and vice versa.

Wiltshire Council says the closure is necessary in the interests of public safety and thanks residents for their patience while the works are carried out.
