Wiltshire Council has announced that it will begin upgrading the existing pedestrian crossing on A4 Rowden Hill in Chippenham, commencing Monday, April 28th.

The project, part of the council's ongoing traffic signal refurbishment program, aims to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the vital crossing.

The works are expected to last approximately three weeks, during which traffic management measures will be in place. These measures will include multi-way temporary traffic signals and a temporary signalised crossing.

According to the council, the existing crossing infrastructure is nearing the end of its designed lifespan and requires replacement to maintain optimal functionality.

"Our traffic signal refurbishment program allows us to identify and prioritise signals that need refurbishment once they've reached the end of their design life," said Samantha Howell, Director of Highways at Wiltshire Council.

"We understand this work may cause some disruption, and we thank road users for their patience. These improvements are essential to keeping our road network safe."

Wiltshire Council encourages drivers to plan their journeys accordingly and to allow extra time for potential delays in the area during the construction period.
