A man remains in police custody following a pursuit through Chippenham that ended in a collision and left a teenage girl seriously injured.
Wiltshire Police said officers spotted a man driving a stolen BMW on West Cepen Way shortly before 9.45am on Sunday, 1st February. The vehicle was travelling northbound when officers attempted to stop it.
The driver failed to stop and a pursuit was authorised, continuing along Bristol Road, Hungerdown Lane, Bath Road and onto the A350 towards Lacock.
The BMW later collided with a Volkswagen Transporter. A 14-year-old girl, who was an occupant of the Volkswagen, was taken to Southmead Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, drink and drug driving, and escaping lawful custody. He was taken to Gablecross custody suite, where he remains.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the pursuit or the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 54260012844.
