A man in his 70s has sadly died following a serious road traffic collision on the B4553 near Purton on Tuesday morning (2nd September).
The incident occurred at approximately 11:20am near Down Farm, when a Honda WW 125 scooter travelling southbound collided head-on with a Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction.
Emergency services responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, the rider of the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, and Wiltshire Police has extended its condolences to the family during this difficult time.
The driver of the Ford Focus, a woman in her 40s, was physically uninjured in the collision. No arrests have been made.
A full road closure was put in place to allow for investigation work by the Serious Collision Investigation Team. The road has since been reopened.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dash cam footage to come forward. “If you witnessed the collision or have dash cam footage from the area around that time, please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team,” said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
