THE funeral of Pewsey Firefighter Mark Hillier will be taking place later today, Friday 10th November.

Mark Hillier, 47, died on Thursday 12th October on his way to a shout, when his Suzuki Grand Vitara was in collision with a BMW on the A345.

Mark’s funeral service will be held today at 1pm at St John the Baptist Church in Pewsey, followed by a service at Salisbury Crematorium at 4pm.

Large crowds are expected to be lining the streets of Pewsey to pay their respect as the cortège leaves Pewsey Fire Station just after 12pm, travelling through Broomcroft Road, Hollybush Lane, the High Street and on to church where fire crews will form a guard of honour.

Pewsey Fire Station said: "We are expecting large crowds, of which include firefighters past and present and some travelling from far and wide to pay their respects to Mark for his service. Parking will be limited, especially as the Bouverie Hall Car Park will be closed due to a large number of fire appliances also attending."

The service will be live streamed to Bouverie Hall and Pewsey Fire Station for those unable to attend the service. There will also be a ‘Celebration of Life’ at the Bouverie Hall after the Service.

Police are advising motorists take alternative routes around Pewsey where possible for the duration.
