Two more people have been arrested in connection with an incident in which a car is believed to have been deliberately driven at a Wiltshire Police officer, bringing the total arrested to five people.

On Saturday 1st June, a police officer approached a white Dacia Jogger Expression in Conscience Lane, Devizes. The vehicle made off, deliberately colliding with the officer leaving him requiring hospital treatment.

A 44-year-old woman from Devizes was arrested last night on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. 

A 36-year-old woman from Trowbridge was also arrested last night on suspicion of conspiring to pervert the course and justice. Both women have been released on bail.

Three other people have already been arrested in relation to this incident.

  • A 20-year-old man from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of assault, attempting to cause Grievous Bodily Harm with intent, and driving without a licence. He remains in custody.
  • A 22-year-old woman from Bristol has also been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and has been released on bail.
  • A man in his 30s from Twerton, near Bath, who had earlier been arrested in connection with the incident, has since been released without charge.

The vehicle believed to be used in this assault has been located and seized by police.

Detective Inspector Steve Edwards said: “This was a serious incident in which a police officer was injured during the course of his duties. Our investigation is continuing at pace, resulting in two further arrests. I would like to thank the public for their invaluable support in relation to our appeals for information.”
