THE Tesco store in Emery Gate, Chippenham will be closing the doors for the last time today, 15th August, ahead of the new Tesco Express opening in Chippenham High Street tomorrow.
The store has been in the Emery Gate shopping centre for 15 years, having signed a lease in 2008, but in January, bosses said they had taken the 'difficult decision' to move to a smaller unit on the High Street and open as a Tesco Express.
Tomorrow, Friday 16th August, a new chapter will begin as Tesco Express will open in one of the three vacant units built in the former Wilko store on Chippenham High Street.
Plans submitted before work began on the unit included an ATM with light and camera installed alongside an internally illuminated projecting sign over the windows, advertising the shop. A spokesperson for Tesco said: "We look forward to continuing to serve our customers at our local stores."
