One of Calne’s best-loved cafés has reopened its doors following a major refurbishment, unveiling a transformed space for customers.
The Farmhouse Café, in Phelps Parade, officially reopened this morning - Friday, 16th January, after closing for three weeks to allow for what owner Robert Merrick described as a “major refurbishment and reinvestment” in the business and the town.

Calne News was invited to a preview of the café on Thursday, ahead of the reopening, to see the results of the extensive work that has taken place since the café closed just before Christmas.
The refurbishment was carried out by Oli Bolt, who assembled a team of trades to completely strip out and rebuild the interior. The new-look café now offers increased seating, improved layout and quieter, more comfortable corners for customers, as well as added features including small side tables with USB charging points.

Former Mayor of Calne, Glenis Ansell, who attended the preview, praised the transformation.
“We were so pleased to be invited to a preview of the refurbished Farmhouse Café last night,” she said. “What an amazing transformation – congratulations to all involved.
“Great to see small side tables with USB points. Just the place for a stop-off during a busy working day for an update and a coffee and light lunch, or a cake to treat yourself. Brilliant.”
Mr Merrick thanked everyone involved in the project, saying the finished result had exceeded his expectations.
“Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard on this project. It’s better than I could imagine,” he said. “Oli Bolt and the team you put together are true trades, and I would recommend them to anyone.”

To mark the reopening, The Farmhouse is also introducing several new items to its menu, including Dubai hot chocolate, a Dubai chocolate frappe, and a white chocolate and Oreo frappe, alongside its usual range of breakfasts, lunches, light bites and homemade cakes.
The Farmhouse Café is now open seven days a week, from 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 2pm on Sundays.
