Calne-based tech firm Black Nova Designs is using its 10th anniversary to put mental health support in the spotlight.

The company has chosen to dedicate its birthday celebration to raising funds for Best Mates, a Swindon-based charity that provides confidential, practical support for people in crisis.

Founder Kyle Holmes said the partnership stems from his own experience. “Throughout the first twenty-three years of my life, I didn’t have anyone to turn to,” he explained. “That’s the great thing Best Mates does – they provide a voice that just listens. If our birthday bash can give people a place to go and raise money for a charity that can literally save someone’s life, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.”

Best Mates co-founder Jeff Tucker welcomed the support, describing the collaboration as vital.

“We want to hold people’s hands and make a difference,” he said. “Through what Black Nova Designs are doing for us, we can focus on helping people in their dark times. We can’t thank them enough for using their birthday bash to platform Best Mates.”

The “10th Birthday Bash” takes place on Saturday 18th October at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon, from 7pm to 11pm. Guests are encouraged to “dress to impress” for an evening of celebration, networking, and entertainment, with raffles and fundraising activities supporting the charity.

Tickets start at £75, with proceeds going directly to Best Mates’ life-saving work.
