POLICE have confirmed this morning that a 16-year-old girl has sadly died following a single vehicle RTC southwest of Bushton yesterday evening (29/08).
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 9.45pm, where a Renault Clio had crashed on an unnamed rural road between Bushton and Hilmarton.
A rear passenger in the Renault, a 16-year-old girl from Royal Wootton Bassett, was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and has been taken into custody.
A police spokesperson has said a road closure remains in place at the scene to allow them to carry out their enquires, adding that the teen's next of kin have been informed and "our thoughts are with them at this tragic time."
