Older residents in Calne and the surrounding area are being reminded that practical help and support is available through a community service run by Age UK Wiltshire in partnership with Wiltshire Council.
The Calne & Marlborough Community Support initiative aims to improve the wellbeing of older people by offering guidance, information and hands-on assistance to help them stay independent and connected.
The service can help residents who may be feeling lonely or isolated, struggling with day-to-day tasks, or unsure about what financial support they may be entitled to. It also offers advice on accessing local activities, transport options and services, as well as support with shopping or collecting essentials.
Residents can get in touch if they would like help to:
-
Find out what is happening locally or attend social activities
-
Explore transport options or arrange someone to accompany them initially
-
Check they are receiving all the income or benefits they are entitled to
-
Become more active with a little extra support
-
Access everyday necessities such as shopping or prescriptions
-
Learn about aids or home adaptations
-
Talk through concerns about affordability or wellbeing
Age UK Wiltshire says the programme is designed to ensure older people have access to reliable information and practical support, helping them to stay safe, make informed choices and remain independent while maintaining social connections.
