WILTSHIRE-based community choir, Sparkly Singers are celebrating a win at this year's Southern Enterprise Awards - just eighteen months after first opening their doors.

Launched in May 2022, Sparkly Singers had the simple aim of bringing the joy and benefits of group singing to everyone, regardless of age or ability. They hold weekly sessions in both Derry Hill and Royal Wootton Bassett, with an emphasis on singing in a way that is engaging, motivating and, most of all, fun.

The group were first made aware of their nomination back in June this year. Following various judging stages throughout the summer, they received the happy news of their win earlier this week, when they were crowned the winners of the 'Most Welcoming All-Ages Community Choir in the South West' award at the annual Southern Enterprise Awards 2023.

Musical Director, Lis Hazell, said: "At Sparkly Singers, we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming environment, where everyone can simply share their love of singing. This very special award acknowledges the wonderfully vibrant and supportive community that has been created by our fabulous members.

"There’s absolutely no need to read music or have any previous singing experience – our only real membership requirement is a well-developed sense of humour!"

Awards Co-ordinator, Jack Ford, commented: "Hosting this year's Southern Enterprise Awards has been a pleasure.  We have seen so much dedication from our winners, and they truly put so much heart into what they do.  I wish them all the best for years to come."

Free taster sessions are available for anyone interested in joining the choir, and more information can be found at
