Shoppers can get an early taste of the Christmas season when the Bowood Festive Food and Gift Fair returns on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd December.

The annual fundraiser, held in the Kerry Suite at the Bowood Hotel Spa and Golf Resort between Calne and Chippenham, brings together local producers, gift stalls and seasonal entertainment, while raising money for the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.

The charity works with Wiltshire Police to provide free home security support for older residents, people with disabilities and those at risk of domestic abuse. It also runs a team of volunteers who help people protect themselves from online fraud.

Director Jennie Shaw said the fair has become a key part of the charity’s calendar. “I always know when Christmas is around the corner because we start planning this wonderfully seasonal event,” she said. “Within the setting of Bowood’s hotel, with the music, carols and the buzz of everyone shopping, you really get a sense of the season.

“The money raised will go a long way to supporting the safety and wellbeing of older people and will allow them to enjoy the festive period too.”

This year’s programme begins with a preview evening on Monday from 4pm to 8pm, priced at £15 per ticket. Visitors will be welcomed with a glass of wine, canapes and live music.

The fair opens again on Tuesday 2nd December from 9am to 3pm, giving shoppers another chance to browse stalls or relax over coffee or lunch in the hotel’s Shelburne Restaurant.

Jennie added: “We have a full range of stallholders selling everything from stocking fillers and leather goods to festive food. We are indebted to Bowood and the Lansdowne family for their continued support.”

Tickets are available at wiltshirebobbyvan.org.uk/future-events, with a two-for-one offer on £5 tickets for the Tuesday session.
