Heart of the Community has launched its 2024 programme of activities and there are some brand new activities included, alongside old favourites this year .

The community group are a non-profit organisation that provides a place where people of different backgrounds and interests can come together for various activities to foster community engagement and development. Mary Wakeham, founding trustee, told us: "We have listened to what our guests want to do, so alongside some of the favourites, we have added some new activities. "Since we opened our doors in June 2021, we became aware of how social isolation affects so many people in our community - we all hope that giving them a reason to come out, meet others and chat with a hot drink made in a cup of love might make a difference to some of our community members. "We believe our space provides added benefit to our community by providing a safe and inclusive space, enhancing the quality of life, promoting social cohesion, and addressing local issues and challenges. Our guests often tell us that attending the centre empowers them, with the volunteers often stepping in to advocate for them. "While we have a hot meal and an activity every day, Tuesday afternoon has been dedicated to Coffee: Connect: Chat where we welcome anyone from the Community to drop in for coffee, cake and company. All services are donation-based, on a what-you-can-afford basis, so if anyone is struggling with loneliness or depression or wants to meet new people, the Heart of the Community team would love to see you!"

Heart of the Community is based at Coleman’s Farm Community Centre (formerly Brown’s Shop), just off Foreman Street in Calne.
