Avebury is getting ready for the festive season, with Christmas displays at Avebury Manor, story-telling sessions with St Nicholas and a weekend Christmas market in the barn.

Christmas at Avebury Manor

From Saturday 29th November, visitors can once again explore Avebury Manor dressed for Christmas. The 16th-century house will be decorated with handmade ornaments, Christmas trees, lights and seasonal music, creating a one-off festive experience.

The manor will be open daily from 11am to 4pm, with the Christmas displays running until 4th January. After that, the house will close for final renovation work before reopening in the spring.

Story time with St Nicholas

Families can meet St Nicholas inside the atmospheric dovecote, which will be lit for the occasion. He’ll be reading a selection of classic Christmas stories and children’s favourites, with each child receiving a small gift to take home.

Sessions will run on the weekends of 6th - 7th December, 13th-14th December and 20th-21st December. Booking is required as the space is limited.

Christmas markets in the barn

The annual Christmas market will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December. Local stallholders will be selling handmade gifts and crafts, with carols and folk music adding to the festive setting.

The market is free to enter and will be open from 10am to 4pm each day. Card payments will be available, though organisers recommend bringing some cash.
