Wiltshire College & University Centre has welcomed more than 2,000 visitors to its autumn programme of open events - the highest attendance the College has ever recorded.
Across nine events held at the College’s four campuses, as well as its specialist University Centre at Castle Combe, visitors had the chance to meet lecturers, tour facilities and receive advice on courses, apprenticeships and university-level study.
One of the clearest signs of engagement this year was the number of people who felt ready to begin their applications on the day. Jo Lennon, School Liaison & Admissions Manager, said: “Around a third of attendees visited our Admissions Hub to make their application there and then, with many more telling us in their feedback that they planned to apply very soon. It’s a fantastic outcome and shows that our events are helping young people feel confident choosing us as their next step.”
Parents and prospective students praised the insight and reassurance the events provided. One parent said: “It was brilliant. I’m very excited for my daughter to be going here so she’ll have a good start to be able to do her dream job.”
Speaking after their visit, one prospective student added: “It was very good, and I would love to come to the College full time to experience the wonderful working facilities it has to offer.” Another said: “The event went beyond expectations. I didn’t expect to get such a personalised look into the course and the set-up. Being able to speak directly with course lecturers was so useful, and the support staff were all very helpful.”
For some, attending the event helped confirm their plans for the future. “It allowed me to be 100% sure of what course I want to do,” one visitor said. Another added: “It’s a beautiful college. It has everything you can think of. Teachers and staff are friendly and, for me, it feels like home.”
