Students at Kingsbury Green Academy have been spreading Christmas cheer across Calne this term. With the help of families and the local community, they collected gifts for those in need.
This week, Calne Mayor Cllr Ian Thorn and Alison Robinson, Director of Calne Town Council, visited the school to collect donations for the Mayor’s Christmas Meal. Both took time to thank students personally for their generosity.

Representatives from Society Without Abuse, formerly Swindon Women’s Aid, also visited the school. They spoke to pupils about their work supporting vulnerable people and raising awareness to create safer communities.
In total, more than 90 boxes and bags of gifts were donated. The donations will bring extra joy to some of Calne’s most vulnerable residents this festive season.
Staff at Kingsbury Green Academy thanked everyone who contributed. “Our students and their families have shown real kindness and community spirit,” said a school spokesperson.
