What began as a simple summer holiday activity has bloomed into an inspiring new venture, as ten-year-old Eva from Calne launches her very own flower business - with a little help from her best friend, also named Eva.
“Bloom with Eva” is a driveway-based flower stand in London Road, offering hand-tied bouquets of locally grown, seasonal flowers. Wrapped in rustic craft paper and tied with ribbon, each bunch is available for just £5 and every one is arranged by the young entrepreneurs.
Eva’s love for flowers runs deep. It began with quiet moments spent gardening alongside her mum, nan, and great-nanny Stroud, and has been celebrated every year with a birthday bouquet - a family tradition marking her growth, both literal and symbolic.
What started as a small delivery of 90 stems to fuel her creativity during the school break quickly turned into something more. Before the flowers had even arrived, Eva had designed a logo, brainstormed business ideas, and recruited her best friend to help.
The first batches of bouquets sold out quickly, and local interest hasn’t stopped growing. The girls have since taken custom orders, launched a Facebook page that now boasts over 100 followers, and secured a pop-up stall at Little Grazey in Old Town, Swindon, scheduled for Saturday 9th August.
All sales and communications are managed by parents, with Eva’s mum Hannah keen to encourage the girls’ independence while ensuring their safety. The flowers are sourced locally - many from the family’s own garden and now also supplied by English Village Flowers, a new grower based in Avebury.
Steph runs English Village Flowers part-time using nature-friendly approaches to provide seasonal flowers to the local area. She mainly offers arranged bouquets and party flowers, but is hoping to offer arrange-your-own buckets from 2026. "I was pleased to be able to test out this product by supplying ingredients for Eva to try her hand at making posies." she added.
Eva’s mum, Hannah, says: “We’re just so proud. It’s not just about flowers, it's about watching two young girls grow in confidence, creativity, and kindness. They’ve poured so much heart into this.
"As parents, it's been a joy to step back and watch their ideas flourish. All we did was buy some flowers and support them behind the scenes. What they’ve created is entirely theirs, and we couldn’t be more inspired by their teamwork and determination."
As for the future, things are looking bright. The girls are already exploring options for regular collections, seasonal offerings, and further local collaborations.
