THE annual Calne Christmas Festival of Lights and Lantern Parade takes place this Saturday, 25th November - here is a run down of what will be happening and what to look out for.

The fun starts from 1pm on Saturday when the streets of Calne will be lined with stalls selling all kinds of goodies from independent traders, local community groups and charities as well as a variety of food outlets.

In the Town Hall you will find more stalls at the Christmas Bazaar. Calne Springs Market will also be in their usual spot along Phelps Parade during the festival.

Little ones will enjoy a visit to see Santa in his grotto located in the Town Hall - Council Chamber at regular slots throughout the day. Just £1 entry and no need to book.

Keep your eyes peeled for some cheeky Christmas Squirrels who will be scurrying about the town spreading festive cheer.

Jennings Fair will be in the lower Sainsbury's car park.

From about 4.20pm you can enjoy some carol singing from the Harmonics choir on the main stage as the crowds gather by the town's Christmas tree donated by Bowood House and put in place last week by Haines Construction Ltd.

The lantern parade will leave Bremhill View at 4.30pm heading into town for the big switch on, when the town's Christmas lights will be switched on for 2023. Following this there will be a spectacular firework display thanks to Jennings Funfair and Anytime Fireworks.

The Strand, will be closed from 11am to 6pm  -  Cox's Hill and Bank Row will be closed 11am to 7pm. Diversions will be in place.
