As Thames Water prepares to implement a hosepipe ban across parts of Wiltshire and beyond, Wessex Water has confirmed it will not follow suit, stating that current water levels are "no cause for concern."

Today, 14th July, Thames Water announced that a hosepipe ban will come into effect from Tuesday, 22nd July impacting customers in Swindon and parts of Wiltshire.

However, Wessex Water, which supplies Calne, Devizes, Chippenham and Royal Wootton Bassett, has reassured customers that a similar ban is not being considered at this point in time.

“The wet winter we experienced means groundwater and reservoir levels in our region, although below average, are currently no cause for concern,” a Wessex Water spokesperson said.

“Regardless of the weather, we always advise customers to use water responsibly as it keeps more in the environment and can save money for households on a meter. Saving water can also reduce energy bills.”

While Wessex Water customers currently remain unaffected, they are urging the public to use water wisely, especially during the summer months.
