Drivers in Calne could soon be prohibited from making U-turns at a key junction on the A3102 Calne Bypass, according to proposals currently under consideration by Wiltshire Council.

The potential ban would affect the junction between the A3102 Calne Bypass and Stanier Road, prohibiting vehicles making a U turn from the eastbound carriageway to the westbound carriageway – at its junction with Stanier Road and at Stanier Road prohibiting vehicles making a U turn from the northbound carriageway to the southbound carriageway – at its junction with A3102 Calne Bypass.

The proposals, filed as a traffic regulation order (TRO) on Thursday, 26th June, aim to improve safety at the location. According to a statement of reasons attached to the plans, the ban is being considered "for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising".

Wiltshire Council is encouraging residents to review the proposals and provide their feedback before  21st July.
