The sun shone for the annual Calne Summer Festival and Carnival at the weekend.

Crowds had plenty to see and do on Saturday, the fun started at 1pm and continued throughout the afternoon. The science show hosted by 'Joseph Priestley' himself, proved so popular it had to moved outside of the town hall to accommodate everyone who wanted to see.

Over at the Wharf, Bert the Clown was making balloon animals amongst a host of stalls from local community groups, there was the opportunity to try the REME assault course and children were enthralled by a Magic Balloon show.

There was a variety of food and drink on offer along Church Street and even more stalls providing tombola fun lined the High Street. We were lucky enough to pick two winning tickets at the WI stall and celebrated with a lovely cold cider before watching a magician wowing the crowds with his wizardry and wit.

Jennings Fair were at the Lower Sainsbury's carpark and Eartunes Radio were on the main stage providing the soundtrack to the day.

The finale to the day was the carnival, White Horse Samba band got the crowds going as they waited for the procession to arrive in the town centre.

The theme this year was 'Influential People Throughout History' and this led to some great costume choices.
