FLOODING in the aftermath of Storm Bert is causing traffic chaos this morning, particularly for anyone wanting to head towards Chippenham.
The Bridge Centre Roundabout is currently underwater and the A350 bypass remains shut just past the Chequers Roundabout sue to the river Avon bursting its banks.
Additionally, in Lacock the Wharf bridge is flooded. Sutton Benger to Christian Malford is flooded and blocked by abandoned vehicles. Holt to Bradford on Avon is flooded and unpassable. B3109 Corsham to Bradford on Avon is closed from Fiveways junction.
Police say most minor roads have deep standing water.
Abbeyfield School, Sheldon School and Hardenhuish School have all announced they are closed today due to flooding in and around Chippenham. Wiltshire College & University have also closed their Chippenham campus.
DWFRS have said: "Avenue La Fleche is currently closed due to flooding from the River Avon in Chippenham. Please AVOID this and all surrounding areas."
The 55 bus service that runs from Chippenham to Calne is not serving the rail station road as it's closed due to flooding.
Faresaver buses have said they have cancel some of their services - please refer to their social media pages for further information before travelling.
Great Western Railway has suspended train services on all key routes after flooding and fallen trees have blocked access at key locations on their network. They have said: "We're sorry for the disruption to journeys. Network Rail and GWR teams are working hard across the network and will carry out inspections to reopen lines as quickly as possible. Disruption is expected to last until at least the end of the day on Monday. Customers are advised NOT TO TRAVEL and check for latest updates at GWR.com.
There are several roads surrounding Calne also suffering localised flooding.
Kingsbury Green Academy in Calne have announced in the last few moments that they are currently open but it may be necessary to send some year groups home early due to a lack of staff. At the time of posting, 22 members of their staff were unable to get to the school.
Fynamore Primary School have closed for the day due to lack of staff.
Wiltshire Council have just said: "Due to flooding, the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre and Chippenham Register Office are currently closed until further notice."
