THE Met Office has issued severe weather warnings as the UK braces itself for Storm Agnes.

A yellow warning of strong winds has been put in place for the majority of the UK from 12pm tomorrow, Wednesday 27th to 7am on Thursday 28th September.

The Met Office has warned of 'very strong winds' and heavy rain sweeping the UK when Storm Agnes arrives tomorrow with Britain set to be battered by 80mph coastal winds which could pose a 'danger to life'

Warnings will continue to be reviewed in the coming days as the exact track and strength of Storm Agnes becomes clearer.

The wind warning highlights the chance of some damage to building from strong winds, as well as the possibility of power cuts for some. Transport disruption is also likely, with some roads and bridges likely to close.

Storm Agnes is the first named storm of the storm naming season which runs from September to August the following year.
