A horse rider from Calne was taken to hospital this morning after being thrown from her horse on Stockley Road.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 8:25 AM on Tuesday, 20th May.
According to a local resident of Stockley Road, the incident caused significant disruption to traffic. "We were suddenly aware of a lot of traffic turning in our driveway to go back the way they came," they stated.
"I walked down to see if I could help, but by then the scene had been blocked off by tractors and I was told that emergency services were on the way and the rider was standing."
Wiltshire Police confirmed the incident, stating that the woman was thrown from her horse after it was spooked.
"At around 8.25am this morning we responded after a woman came off her horse after it was spooked in Stockley Lane near Calne," a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
"She was taken to hospital for treatment. The road was briefly closed and has since reopened."
Stockley Road was temporarily closed following the incident but was soon reopened to traffic.
Since reporting on the road closure this morning, the rider involved made contact with Calne News to thank those who had posted their concern and best wishes. Holly Hughes said: "No vehicle was involved in the accident this morning. It was just me and my horse, unfortunately just wasn’t our day! But thank you to everyone that’s commented."
