Residents of Bromham turned out in force today, Tuesday 28th October, to welcome Queen Camilla, who officially opened the village’s new Community Hub having visited Corsham earlier in the day.
Her Majesty spent time meeting local people, volunteers, and community leaders involved in bringing the long-awaited hub to life - four years after the original building was lost in a devastating fire. The new hub features a café and flexible community spaces. The opening was celebrated with stalls and displays from local groups including the Royal British Legion, Bromham WI, Mothers’ Union, Youth Club, Gardening Club, Tennis Club, and more.

Catering was provided by local favourites including The Greyhound, The Westbrook, Quince, and chef Alfie Fletcher, ensuring the celebrations had a truly community feel.
Earlier in the day, the Queen had joined a poppy workshop at the Martingate Shopping Centre in Corsham, marking the completion of a community project to create 10,000 handmade poppies for a remembrance display at St Bartholomew’s Church.
The Queen’s visit to Bromham highlighted the resilience and spirit of the local community. During her time at the hub, she spoke with residents and those who helped make the project possible, enjoying a first-hand look at the wide range of groups and activities that will now benefit from the new facility.
Cllr Laura Mayes - for Bromham, Rowde and Roundway, Devizes commented: "It was a very happy day and showed Bromham at its best - a wonderful community working together. A massive thank you to everyone involved."
The day’s visits were part of a series of Wiltshire engagements for the Queen, who has a home nearby in Lacock and is a familiar figure in the county.
