Calne Police have acted swiftly to address ongoing antisocial behaviour at Cafe Damascus on the High Street.

The café, managed by Syrian couple Nisreen and Tamer, had been repeatedly targeted by two local boys who ran in and out of the premises, causing disruption and distress to staff and customers. The youths reportedly covered their heads with tops in an attempt to avoid identification.

The situation escalated when the boys threatened to access the café’s first floor by climbing from the roof of the nearby Iceland store. They also recently entered the premises via the rear door.

Following reports from the café owners and former town councillor Robert MacNaughton, PCSO Nicole Sheppard visited the café and was able to identify both boys through CCTV footage. Both are 14-years-old, PCSO Sheppard has been in touch with their school to inform them of the behaviour.

The intervention demonstrates how proactive policing, working alongside local businesses and schools, can address antisocial behaviour and maintain a safe environment for the community.
