THE former home of Marden Community Hub in Church Street is back up for lease, this time with ambitious plans to create an arcade of shops and a cafe.
Number 20 Church Street is currently listed on Rightmove as 'a prominent and well positioned E Class retail unit with plans to divide into 6 smaller retail units and a café. The space includes a communal kitchen and W/C. Units range from 183 sq ft to 399 sq ft with further office/storage space available upstairs. The café space comes to a total of 385 sq ft plus garden space with shared external access'.
A post made by The Gift Box shop in also in Church Street, highlighting the plans, caused a flurry of nostalgia from some of Calne's older residents who remembered 20 Church Street through the years.
Danny T Silvers commented: "I remember it as Dixons and then Draper's Corner, which was a great little shopping arcade with a nice little cafe and a music shop upstairs called Off the Track."
The property is being marketed by Stibbard Property Marlborough and rents on the retail units range from £229 to £499pcm and the Cafe unit at £801pcm.
Marden Community Hub left the building at the beginning of this year, eventually signing a new lease to take up residence in the High Street.
