THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for tomorrow, Saturday 7th June which covers most of the south of the UK.

The warning for thunderstorms covers the entire county comes into force from 9am tomorrow until 6pm.

Forecasters predict heavy rain and thunderstorms will batter the area, with the Met Office warning that some locations could see between 10 to 15 mm of rain falling in less than an hour.

In some areas, rainfall could reach a staggering 30 to 40 mm over several hours. The downpour poses a significant risk of disruption to travel, with the Met Office cautioning of potential delays and disruptions on both roads and railways.

The warning also states that there's a chance of structural damage to buildings caused by lightning strikes and a risk of power cuts.

National news outlets are reporting that similar weather conditions are expected across the country, with many regions bracing for what they're calling a "rain bomb."

However, the bleak weather is expected to lift as Sunday approaches. The Met Office predicts drier conditions and increasing sunshine for Swindon and Wiltshire, with temperatures gradually rising throughout the week.

Looking ahead, the weather forecast for Wiltshire is optimistic. The Met Office anticipates a peak in temperatures on Wednesday, 11th June, with highs of 26 degrees Celsius currently predicted.
