VOLUNTEERS at Marden Community Hub in Church Street have been left reeling following the shock news that the landord of the building they use, has given them just one month's notice to vacate the premises.

Although rumours have been circulated by two former visitors who took advantage of the facilities at the hub to their own gain, that the community group is behind on their rent, this is simply not the case. The community group are fully up to date with their rent payments, but have been asked to be out of the building by the 2nd January 2025.

Carol told us: "We don’t know whether the landlord has sold the building or not. We are at the moment getting solicitors involved because of the short notice, so we are appealing for help with any legal expenses we incur."

Cllr Robert McNaughton has been working with Marden Community Hub to try and help them. He has made them an appointment with some local solicitors and has been trying to get in touch with the owner of the former Lloyd's Bank building which has been empty for a few years.

If any one knows of any premises becoming available in the town centre, please contact the hub.

In the meantime, they will be holding a fundraising event on Christmas Eve with a special buffet. Booking is required by the 20th December with a £2.50 deposit - a total of £5 per person. There will be glass of Bucks Fizz included.
