MARDEN Community Hub trustees have sent out an urgent plea for an immediate stop to donations left outside their premises in Church Street as they approach the deadline to leave.
The community group currently have been given until the 20th of January to leave their premises, after the landlord issued a surprise eviction notice at the beginning of December.
Dawn Perkins and Carol Lavery who run the organisation have been working with Cllrs Robert MacNaughton and Sam Pearce-Kearney to find alternative premises as well as preparing to leave their Church Street home.
As part of their preparations, they have had to cease taking any donations of toys, clothes and food and have posted signs on the windows to ask that nothing is left there when they are closed.
Despite the signs, and even a face to face request to one donor to remove the items being left there, items continue to be dumped outside the hub.
Carol told us: "It has taken two days of a tip run to clear everything that had been left outside Marden Community Hub over Christmas, despite signs on the windows saying 'Please do not leave anything'.
She added: "A big thank you to the two people who supported us and saw what had been left outside and did the tip run."
New signs will shortly be going up to say any further items left outside will be classed as fly-tipping.
In the meantime, they are hard at work to find alternative premises with another two possible outlets currently being discussed.
Carol added: "It’s a case of watch this space. Marden Community Hub will continue, we cannot believe what people have said and done for us since we announced our landlords notice. We will not be beaten. Even if we have no premises for a few weeks, we will find somewhere and continue helping this community.
