Calne's Conservative town councillors are vowing to champion improvements for local residents and hold the Liberal Democrats accountable, following recent gains in the town council elections.

The Conservative presence has been bolstered with the election of Bobby Seymour in Calne Central, Orrey Pike in Calne Chilvester and Abberd, and the return of Tom Rounds in Calne North.

Cllr Bobby Seymour, the newly elected representative for Calne Central, stated, "Throughout the election, my message was clear: Let’s do things differently in Calne. Now we have a chance to cut down on wasteful spending, improve services for young people, and ensure Calne’s small-town charm is preserved."

He added, "As a young person on the town council, I want to use my position to secure a better deal for young people, as well as working with my colleagues on issues which affect everyone, such as planning and reducing traffic congestion."

Cllr Orrey Pike, representing Calne Chilvester & Abberd, underlined the importance of local businesses. "A town like Calne thrives when local businesses do well, creating jobs and ensuring our high street is a buzzing and safe place to be," he said.

Drawing on his experience as a business owner, Cllr Pike said: "I want to use my knowledge and experience to ensure we are a viable town for businesses to invest in and look forward to seeing how we can work with the whole community to bring real improvements across Calne."

He announced his intention to meet with local businesses to explore how the town council can support them, and what support can be requested from Wiltshire Council to ensure their prosperity following recent tax increases.

Cllr Tom Rounds, representing Calne North, has been re-elected and will lend his experience to the new group members. The Conservative Party believes these results demonstrate a continued trust in their values and a strong endorsement from local residents who seek experienced and community-focused representatives on their town councils. The party expressed gratitude to its supporters and reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger future for Calne.
