The official opening of the Pocket Park 'Little Library' will be taking place on Sunday 18th February.

The idea for the book box came from Leanne Hames who installed the first Book Swap library at her home in Hastings Drive, in memory of her daughter Evie, 15, who died in 2020 following struggles with her mental health.

One of the Pocket Park volunteers, Denis Griffin, has now made a wonderful ‘little library’ that is being installed at the Pocket Park on Friday.

The official opening will take place on Sunday at 2.30pm in the presence of representatives of Calne Lions, who funded the materials, Leanne Hames, several members of Calne Wordfest and Pocket Park volunteers.

The Men’s Shed are making 8 more little libraries, to a different design, to create a network around Calne.

People will be able to take a book or even better swap a book. The bottom shelf will be for children's books and the others will hold a mixture of adult fiction and non-fiction books.
