Calne Food Bank, Fairfield College in Westbury and Swindon-based homelessness charity Threshold each received £500. Representatives from the organisations attended a cheque presentation at The Hills Group’s head office on Tuesday, 16th December.
The donations will help the charities continue delivering essential services during the winter period, when demand is often at its highest.
Mike Hill, chairman of The Hills Group, said Christmas could be “an especially difficult time” for individuals and families facing hardship.
“We are proud to support three charities that make such a positive and lasting difference in the towns where we operate and where many of our employees live,” he said. “We hope these donations help them continue their incredible efforts.”
Chief executive Ed Dodd said supporting local communities remained central to the company’s values.
“Each of the charities we are supporting works tirelessly to help people at vulnerable stages of their lives,” he said. “We are pleased to play a small part in supporting their important work.”
Helen Edwards, service manager at Threshold, said the donation was particularly valuable at a time when homelessness pressures were increasing.
“With rising rents, soaring living costs and limited access to affordable housing, many local people are at risk of homelessness,” she said.
Kevin Wells, chairperson of Calne Food Bank, said the funding would help meet growing demand for food parcels in the town.
“This contribution will help relieve the worry and stress faced by local families at a challenging time of year,” he said.
Fairfield College principal Graeme Athey said donations such as this helped the college continue providing opportunities for young people with learning and physical needs.
The Hills Group said it plans to continue working with community organisations throughout 2026 to support projects benefiting local people across Wiltshire and beyond.
