Calne Town Council and Eartunes Radio have confirmed a new partnership that will see the community radio station become the official broadcaster for three of the town’s largest annual events in 2025 and 2026.
Under the agreement, Eartunes will cover the Bonfire and Fireworks Night, the Christmas Festival of Lights, and the Summer Calneval, bringing music, atmosphere and event highlights to listeners in Calne and beyond.
Station Manager Chris Wilson-Ash said: “We are delighted to enter into this partnership where we can put the listener at the heart of the town events, and include those who can’t attend in person. You will also find us at other local events as we encourage you to chat with us and find out more about our radio shows, presenters, and how to get involved. We are looking forward to being an integral part of the town’s local events and of course meeting all of our listeners.”
The partnership will also see the council share event news directly with Eartunes for broadcast across the station’s programmes, strengthening links between the authority and local residents.
The announcement follows a period of strained relations earlier this summer, when Eartunes founder Ade Stickley resigned citing a “major snub” after the station was replaced by Chippenham Hospital Radio for certain council-run events. At the time, the council said the decision was part of efforts to “refresh the look and feel” of town centre events, while offering Eartunes opportunities to be involved in other ways.
This latest development signals a renewed collaboration between the two organisations, both of which play prominent roles in Calne’s community life.
