There was a great turnout for a festive community walk around Calne on Tuesday night (23rd December), with residents of all ages coming together for an evening of lights, laughter and conversation.

The walk, organised by local mental health support group Men Walking and Talking, saw 27 people and two dogs take part. Setting off from the town’s Christmas tree, the group covered just over three miles, taking in Christmas light displays across the town.

Among those attending were Calne town councillors Bobby Seymour, Mike Sankey and Eugene Gooch, as well as Chippenham MP Sarah Gibson, who spoke with participants before the walk began.

Families, friends and local residents joined the relaxed festive stroll, which was open to everyone in the community.

The event followed an invitation issued earlier this month and was aimed at encouraging connection and supporting mental wellbeing during the festive period.

Organiser, Leigh Randell, thanked everyone who took part, describing the walk as a positive way to bring the community together ahead of Christmas.

Cllr Seymour said: "I would like to thank the organisers and participants for everything they do. It was genuinely refreshing to see how the men involved draw on their own lived experiences to shape the support they offer one another."

Men Walking and Talking runs regular walks in Calne, providing a welcoming space for people to talk while staying active.
