THE popular Farmhouse Café will close its doors this Sunday – but only temporarily – as part of what its owner has described as a “major refurbishment and reinvestment” in the business and the town.
The Farmhouse Café, in Phelps Parade, will close on Sunday 21st December and will reopen on Friday, 16th January 2026, following a full refurbishment.
Owner Robert Merrick said the closure is to allow for a complete transformation of the café, with everything being stripped out and rebuilt from scratch.
“We’re baking your new café,” he said. “This is a major refurbishment and a massive reinvestment in the business and in Calne. We can’t wait for everyone to see it finished.”
Work will begin on Monday 22nd December, with the café reopening at 8.30am on 16th January, offering a new-look space and a range of new offerings for customers.
Mr Merrick said it was important to reassure customers that the café is not closing permanently.
“We didn’t want rumours starting that we’ve closed altogether,” he added. “This is about coming back better than ever.”
