The funeral of Ellie Gould took place today, 29th May 2019 at St Mary's Church in Calne.

Ellie was found murdered at her home in Springfield Drive, Calne on 3rd May. Her body was discovered by ambulance crews who called the police to the scene at approximately 3.15pm on Friday 3rd May. A short time later police arrested a 17-year-old in connection with her murder.

Today a funeral cortege led by horse and carriage made it's way from Ellie's home in Springfield Drive, down Curzon Street and on to St Mary's Church where close friends and family had gathered for a private funeral service at 10.30am.

Ellie was a keen horse rider and has been described by friends as 'horse mad'.

In a statement released today, her family said Ellie spent summer months hacking over Wiltshire's beautiful countryside with her beloved horse, Blackjack. Ellie's coffin depicted wild running horses.

The 17-year-old boy charged with her murder, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded in custody and a pre-trial hearing has been set for June 6.

A provisional trial date has been set for October 28 at Bristol Crown Court.
