A road policing unit stopped this truck in Calne today after the driver was seen driving past a school while on their mobile phone.
Police say they were thanked by members of the public who had seen the driver on the phone further up the road.
The driver will now face penalty points and a costly fine.
Drivers face six penalty points and a £200 fine if caught holding and using a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send and receive data while driving or riding a motorcycle.
If the driver has passed their test in the last two years, they could lose their licence.
You can also be taken to court where you can:
- be banned from driving or riding
- get a maximum fine of £1,000 (£2,500 if you’re driving a lorry or bus)
