CALNE Royal British Legion and Calne Town Council will be hosting the Festival of Remembrance Parade and church service this Sunday.

The parade will assemble at the Old Post Office in the High Street at 9.30am and will include:

Calne Silver Band, Royal British Legion (RBL), Royal Air Force Association (RAFA), 5 REME, Army Cadet Force Calne detachment, Air Training corps 2189 Sqn(Calne), Calne Lions, Poppy Collectors, The Girl Guides Association, Calne Brownies, Calne Rainbows, 1st Calne Scouts and Calne Beavers.

At 9.55am the parade will set off down the High Street to The Strand and then up to Church Street toward St Mary's Church.

The following road closures will be in place from 9.20am to 11.30am.

  • Church Street will be closed from its junction with the A4 Curzon Street to its junction with The Green.
  • Mill Street will be closed from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Anchor Road.
  • Anchor Road will be closed from its junction with Mill Street to its junction with The Glebe.

Following the service at the church, the wreath-laying, the Saluting dais will be in front of the Town Library and then the parade will march over the traffic lights around the Town Hall into Patford Street.

All residents are welcome to watch the march past, attend the church service or view the laying of wreaths.
